This is a 5-10 minute 2D ultrasound scan session and you will get a black and white photo as well as one CD of all your images. At this stage, we can confirm the presence and number of embryo(s) and gestational sac(s) as well as assess the gestational age. This can also be known as a “dating scan”. We can confirm the presence of a heartbeat and check the size of the embryo to ensure the baby is the right size for predicted gestational age. We can also ensure if the embryo has implanted within the uterus or there is a chance for an ectopic pregnancy.

The scan includes a blood test to check the viability of your pregnancy. Cost of blood test is included in the price of the scan.

This early pregnancy scan is only available if you fulfill either of the following requirements:

  • You are a registered patient of The Heights Medical Centre for primary care, OR
  • You provide us a letter from your GP stating your previous medical history AND  your blood test result for hCG done 48 hours before your appointment.

If you are not a patient registered to The Heights Medical Centre and fail to provide documents detailed above, ICU Studio reserves the right to refuse your appointment request and/or to perform the scan.

after the 12th week

This is a 10-15 minute 2D ultrasound scan session and you will get a black and white photo and one CD of all your images. We also provide you one heartbeat photo if the age of the baby is over 12 weeks. Please note that this type of scan is not suitable to determine the gender of the baby or the presence of chromosomal abnormalities.

  • If you want to know the gender of your baby or you are interested in an abnormality test, we recommend the Harmony Prenatal Test which is also available at our ICU studio. The Harmony Prenatal Test is developed to determine the most common chromosomal abnormalities and the baby’s gender as early as the 10th week. This is a 10-15 minute 2D ultrasound scan session and you will get two black and white photos and one CD with all your images. We can also listen to your baby’s heartbeat and we check the gender.

Please note that this type of scan is not suitable to determine the presence of chromosomal abnormalities.

3D scan around 33 weeks

Enchanted

from the 26th weeks
(ideally between the 28th and 32nd weeks)

This is a 20-minute 2D-3D color ultrasound scan session and you will get two of the best black and white photos and one CD of all your images we make. We also can check the gender (if desired) and the face of your baby in detail at this stage. If we are not able to obtain a good 3D image and/or predict the gender for you at your appointment, we welcome you back for a re-scan. Our re-scan policy is contingent upon your return visit being within 10 days of our original appointment.

Tip:

If you have already booked your appointment for this scan, here are three helpful hints to better your chances of a more clear scan:

  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water the 3 days leading up to your appointment.
  • Drink a sugary beverage about 20 mintues before appointment.
  • Empty your bladder upon arriving at the ICU Ultrasound Studio.
